6 tips to staying safe in the sun-plus our favorite sunscreens!
What is the best sunscreen? The one you will actually use! But seriously, there are tons of options and pictured above are some of the ones we love!
We are in the sunshine state and the Sunshine City non less which means beautiful weather and lots of outdoor activities. Before you walk out the door double check you’ve got sunscreen on hand. Keep an extra stash in the car, throw some in your purse, toss them in your beach bag. Just have them around. They do expire so make sure you check the dates.
Read the labels. There are many options in the sunscreen isle. Look for options that are free of oxybenzone, PABA, and parabens (better for your kiddos and for the ocean!) You may also want to choose products that are free of dyes and fragrances.
In addition to sunscreen, here are some tips to staying safe in the sun!
Hydrate! Drink plenty of water throughout the day as a way to stay healthy and hydrated.
Hats and rash guards are the best! Rash guards and sun suits give your children extra coverage and many offer UPF 50 protection. (Bonus: saves you sunscreen and reduces battles).
They sun is most intense from 10am-4pm so get out early or save your beach outing for early evening and sunset.
Use a sunscreen with a rating higher than SPF 30.
Apply sunscreen 15-20 minutes before going into the sun, and reapply every 2 hours.
Take breaks! Find a nice shady spot for a snack or some downtime when your are out for long stretches of time.
Now get out there enjoy some much needed sunshine!
