Why House Calls…

Making this holiday season that much simpler with House Calls.

It’s officially two sleeps until Christmas and my children are buzzing with excitement. I’m sure your families are feeling just as much joyful excitement too! We are approaching our one month mark from when we launched House Calls for Kids to the Tampa Bay community. The unending support and enthusiasm for what we are doing has been incredible.

Now that we are officially open for business, I have had the pleasure of taking care of our first patients. The House Call experience is unlike any other in healthcare. I have truly enjoyed being welcomed into my patients’ homes and developing instant relationships with their children. The children have shown me around their homes, shared their special toys with me and even brought over their favorite stuffed animals for a check up too. This is truly a remarkable experience.

When children get to a certain age visiting the doctor can provoke fear and anxiety. I love being able to help children avoid those feelings by coming to them where they are most comfortable. I have left each of my visits with a huge smile on my face knowing the service I was able to provide them.

Another huge benefit has been seeing the medicines and treatments the families have in their homes. Together we have done albuterol treatments and nasal sprays. This helps when you just want to know that you are doing them right. It also allows me to offer advice and support to parents with medication administration and other health care recommendations.

These visits are never rushed and I make sure the family understands the plan and that all of their questions are answered. This helps families feel at ease and empowered in how they will take care of their sick or injured kiddo.

It has been an honor to bring this service to the Tampa Bay Area and I am excited for what the new year has in store for House Calls for Kids. Wishing you and your families a very Merry (and healthy) Christmas!
