It’s that time of the year! Are you hitting the road this summer with your little ones? Here are our top 6 tips for a healthy road trip with kids!

  1. Don’t forget to Stretch! Stop off at a rest stop or find a playground near by. Bring a soccer ball or kick ball to promote physical activity during your stop. Burn some energy and then hit the road.

  2. Pack smart snacks! Think craft boxes or bento boxes stocked with the best treats. Have one available for each child to get their own. They stack easily in a color bag.

  3. Align road trips with naps or bedtime. Well bingo! Sleeping children on a long road makes for a smooth ride. Sip your coffee in piece and quiet. Bring headphones so you can jam out or listen your latest audible or podcast.

  4. Keep them entertained. Car entertainment is tricky and movies get old. Car bingo or dry erase mazes are a great way to break up boredom. Try magnet puzzles or sticker books! There are also some great podcasts out there that are geared toward kids and families! Check out: But Why, Stories Podcast, The Past and the Curious, or Brains On!

  5. Stay hydrated! Keep a refillable spill proof water bottle available for each kiddo.

  6. Don’t forget a first aid kit! Stock it with bandaids, antibiotic ointment, Motrin or Tylenol, and Benadryl.
