Halloween 2020….

It’s hard to believe its the middle of October. This is usually my favorite time of year! October for us is usually packed with all the fall fun including pumpkin patches, parties, haunted neighborhood walks, Mickey’s Not So Spooky and trick-or-treating on the big day! However, here we are in this crazy 2020 COVID pandemic and everything looks so different. The good news is there are still ways to have keep the festivities going and have fun while staying safe.

Here are the latest recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics for the big day:

  • Avoid large groups or clustering at doorways.

  • Wipe candy packages down with sanitizing wipes before enjoying.

  • Practice good hand hygiene and take along hand sanitizer using often.

  • Encourage children who are old enough to wear face masks. .

  • If you are passing out candy wear a mask and consider handing out prepacked individual treat bags.

  • Consider sitting outdoors to hand out goodies.

Of course there are other ways to get in the spirit, even if Halloween feels different this year. Have a family costume party at home! Eat special treats and watch spooky movies. Decorate or carve pumpkins together. Set up your own pumpkin patch in the yard and take pictures. Get creative and have fun doing something different.

We decided to decorate for Halloween this year just like we would any other year. The kids were so excited to pull out the decorations and put them up!. I understand some people have decided to take this year off, and everyone needs to do what is best for their families and neighbors. That said, my kids have thoroughly enjoyed riding bikes through the neighborhood and taking in all of the spooky decor!

How ever you and your family decide to celebrate this year, we hope you have a safe and spooktacular Halloween season!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by!

Drop a comment and tell us how you plan to celebrate this Halloween season!
